LOVE DEATH & ROBOTS - THE WITNESS (2019)

The Witness is an animated short film that is part of the Netflix anthology series Love, Death & Robots. It was created by Alberto Mielgo and produced by Pinkman.tv. I served as the Surfacing Supervisor for this project.

The Witness follows a woman who witnesses a murder in a hotel room across the street, and then finds herself pursued by the killer through the streets of Hong Kong. The short film is known for its distinctive visual style and frenetic animation.

As Surfacing Supervisor, I was responsible for overseeing the creation and implementation of textures and materials across all assets in the film. This involved developing a consistent visual language for the unique stylized look while ensuring technical requirements were met.

I'm pretty sure we broke 90% of the shading-book-of-rules … It was a lot of fun translating Alberto Mielgo's designs into 3D characters.
